For a long time medical professionals have been warning not only parents but just about anyone, who uses cotton ear buds to clean their's or their children's ears, to stop or risk damage, yet it still appears to be a major issue.
A new study published in The Journal of Pediatrics revealed that from a period of 20 years between 1990 and 2010, more than 263,000 children were being treated for cotton bud related ear injuries in US alone!
The age was from 18 years and under however 67% of those injuries were chidren under 8. Most of the cases were ear drum damage as result of a cotton swab being stuck in the ear canal. Medical professionals reveal that should these incidents persist or if they're not treated correctly, they could lead to hearing loss, dizziness, pain and bleeding.
