"Normal Barbie" Will Now Experience A Menstrual Cycle

The “normal Barbie” who already has stretch marks and cellulite, will now join every woman in the world by getting her period.

The “Lammily Doll” has realistic body proportions and now comes with a $10 Period Party extension. It’s been coined “the fun way to explain the menstrual cycle to kids” says creator Nickolay Lamm.

 “It’s just what happens in real life,” Lamm told TIME. “We wanted to put it on the doll so it’s not a scary thing.”

The kit comes with an education pamphlet explaining what to expect from a menstrual cycle, and includes:

Doll underwear
19 Coloured Pads
A Calendar
Stickers to track the cycle

The video ad below, attempts to convey that girls might feel more comfortable learning about periods from their doll, as opposed to their mum and dad.
