NEW version of 'Can You Feel The Love Tonight' from 'The Lion King' remake divides fans
Disney has unveiled their new version of the iconic song from The Lion King, Can You Feel The Love Tonight and it has left fans rather divided.
Reimagining the song for the live-action remake of the 90s animated movie, are none other than Beyoncé Knowles-Carter who is the voice of Nala and Donald Glover, the voice of Simba.
The snippet of the track – originally made famous by Sir Elton John - appeared in a new 45 second TV spot.
While some Lion King fans absolutely loved the new rendition of the song, others weren’t so impressed saying that the song had been "ruined".
"Beyonce already ruining this iconic song," one Disney fan wrote online.
"And here we thought Ariana and John ruined Beauty and the Beast," another added. "Donald and Beyonce have no harmony together."
"Can Donald and Beyonce f*** off. I want Elton," said one angry fan on Twitter.
However, there was also an overwhelming amount of positivity in response to the new Can You Feel The Love Tonight, with many saying they can’t wait to hear the full song in cinemas.
"Imagine how beautiful it's going to be when Beyoncé’s voice echoes in the theatres," one Lion King fan wrote. "I can't wait."
"Who knew we needed a duet between Beyoncé and Childish Gambino, one of the best!!" another added.
"Dang, I’m impressed with their singing!" one person wrote online. "I didn’t think it was actually going to be THAT amazing! That was gorgeous! I can’t wait to hear the full song!"
The live-action remake of The Lion King hits New Zealand cinemas July 17.
