This is what's really in the butter on cinema popcorn...

Let's be honest, there's nothing better than going to the movies and getting a big, beautiful tub of popcorn covered in buttery liquid.
But it turns out movie theater butter isn't actually proper butter.
Of course every company’s recipe is slightly different, but according to Extra Crispy, that "butter" is actually made with Flavacol and butter flavoured topping.
Flavacol is a type of seasoning salt that makes the popcorn turn that special, yellow colour.
And butter flavoured topping?
That's basically just an oil that mimics the taste of butter.
It's made with chemicals like beta carotine (an organic pigment that's found in vegetables like carrots and spinach), polydimethylsiloxane (a silicon-based anti-foaming agent), tertiary Butylhydroquinone (a synthetic preservative that slows down oxidation), and hydrogenated soybean oil (which prevents oil from spoiling).
So, essentially, you're just eating salt and chemicals.
Sound delicious to you?

Please note: Those chemicals have obviously been labelled safe to eat by the FDA.
