This is the one thing you should always check before you use a hotel safe

It turns out some hotel safes are not actually that safe!
Travellers are often told to lock all their valuables in the safe of their hotel room when they're out exploring a new city.
But your passport, computer, and jewellery might not be as secure as you thought.
Some hotels don't change the default unlock code - which exists in case you accidentally forget your self-created passcode.
The default code for most hotel safe models is 000000, and that is not exactly a thief-proof passcode!
So, before you 'lock' your valuables away in your room safe double check your room's safe.
Lock it with a passcode of your choice and then make sure you cannot unlock your safe with an all-zero combination or the always popular 1-2-3-4 code.
