The Institute of Environmental Science and Research has just released some fascinating stats in regards to our country and STIs.
Back in 2016, results showed that the Lakes District (Rotorua, Taupo and surrounding areas) had the highest rate of chlamydia in NZ.
While Tairawhiti (Gisborne and surrounding areas) had the highest Gonorrhoea rates.
But it appears this year, both the Lakes District and Tairawhiti have cleaned up their acts!

Because New Zealand has a new top contender ...
Now, Wellington is not only the capital of New Zealand but they're now the capital of STIs as well.
The Wellington region has the highest rate of chlamydia per 100,000 according to the latest figures.
While the Canterbury has the highest rate of gonorrhoea per 100,000.
So without further 'ado, here are the top five STI regions ...
