The list was released by the Department of Internal Affairs, gathered from SmartStart, the online tool for new parents to help register their babies.
"SmartStart makes it easy for parents to find out all the things that need to be done when a baby is born, starting with registering the birth", says Registrar-General Births, Deaths and Marriages Jeff Montgomery.
"Registering your newborn makes sure they have an official identity from birth, so they can access their legal rights as they grow up."
“During a time that can be overwhelming and of financial stress, the last thing new parents want to be doing is filling out a raft of forms. SmartStart is a free, fast and easy way to register your child,” Montgomery said.
