Mum's brilliant lesson for her 'ungrateful' daughter has gone viral online
One savvy mum's parenting tactics and it’s left us feeling inspired! Â
Haley Hassell from Florida in the USA has been receiving a standing ovation from parents all over the world after sharing an incredible lesson in gratitude she taught her six-year-old daughter.Â
It all started when Hassell went school supply shopping with Presleigh, who had her heart set on a LOL pencil case box.
After a grueling search across three different stores, Hassell finally found the coveted pencil box and surprised her daughter with it.
But to her shock and dismay, Presleigh immediately threw the box in the trash, yelling that everyone in her class already had it.Â

Instead of getting angry or Hassell calmly handed her daughter the pencil case she would be using instead ... a ziplock bag. Â
Presleigh was unimpressed, but Hassell didn't back down. She explained to her daughter that there are children who can't afford school supplies, and the discarded LOL pencil box would be donated to a child in need.Â
Hassell's post about the incident on Facebook went viral, with over 123,000 likes and 56,000 shares.
While many parents praised her for teaching Presleigh a valuable lesson, others criticized Hassell for "publicly shaming" her daughter. But the criticism didn't phase Hassell, who remained resolute in her parenting style.Â

Together, Hassell and Presleigh mailed the pencil box to a five-year-old girl in Utah, along with some other school supplies. Presleigh learned an important lesson about gratitude and perspective, and Hassell hopes to instill this positive outlook in her daughter's life.Â
"Having a positive outlook can make or break you in life - I want her to know that," Hassell told Good Morning America. "Nothing is going to be easy, but when something is given to you, you've got to be grateful."Â
So kudos to Haley for being a fearless and fabulous parent! Let's all take a page from her book and teach our kids about gratitude and generosity.Â
