Date and Times

The Farmers Santa Parade will delight families on Sunday, 24th November 2024. In case of bad weather, the parade will be postponed to Sunday, 1st December 2024, with updates announced by 9am on the Santa Parade website and Facebook page.

  • Pre-Parade: 12pm – 1pm
  • Parade: 1pm – 2:30pm
  • Santa’s Party: 2:30pm – 5pm

Parade Route

The 1.6km parade route takes about an hour to pass each point. For great, less-crowded views, try Mayoral Drive (between Cook Street and Queen Street) or Customs Street East, where there’s often room to spread out a picnic blanket.

Road Closures

Inner-city roads will close from 11am to 5pm. Arrive early to avoid delays.

Getting There

Take public transport to avoid traffic issues. Buses, trains, and ferries all service the city centre. Kids under 13 travel free, but those over 5 need a registered HOP card. Note that flags at height and balloons are not allowed on trains. For details, visit AT.govt.nz/events.

Pre-Parade Fun

From 12pm to 1pm, enjoy Christmas choirs, bands, and interactive characters to get into the holiday spirit before the parade begins.

The Main Event

Starting at 1pm, the Farmers Santa Parade will showcase 4,000 participants, over 200 Christmas-themed floats, and the magic that has delighted Aucklanders for 90 years. And of course, the man himself, Santa will make an appearance to close out the parade. Please stay behind the safety line along the route, as requested by the Police.

Santa’s Party

After the parade, head to Aotea Square for Santa’s Party from 2:30pm to 5pm, hosted by Jono, Ben, and Megan from The Hits. Enjoy live festive performances, including the Bluey Live Christmas Experience, amusement rides, LEGO® builds, food stalls, and a final chance to see Santa.
