Counting Crows forced to cancel tonight's Wellington concert
Counting Crows have been forced to cancel tonight’s Wellington show.
American rock band Counting Crows recently returned to New Zealand after seven years, but have now had to cancel their Wellington show due to illness.
The group had already performed in Auckland and Christchurch, but fans in Wellington will now be left disappointed.
Live Nation released a statement apologising for the cancellation and stating that full refunds will be issued to all ticket holders.
“Live Nation wishes to advise it will not be possible to proceed with tonight’s COUNTING CROWS performance at Wellington’s Michael Fowler Centre due to illness,” the announcement reads.
“Counting Crows and Live Nation share the disappointment of ticket holders at this late news and apologise for any inconvenience caused.
“Unfortunately, it will not be possible to reschedule the Wellington performance during the current tour schedule, therefore full refunds will be issued to all ticket holders via their original payment method.”
Formed in 1991, Counting Crows has been impressing fans worldwide with their soulful and intricate take on timeless rock 'n' roll. Kiwi fans in particular were captivated by the seven-member band's breakout album, August and Everything After, which went multi-platinum in 1993 and featured the beloved tune, "Mr. Jones."
Over the course of their extensive 30-year career, Counting Crows have released seven more studio albums and sold over 20 million records worldwide.
Despite these challenges, Counting Crows remain a beloved band with a loyal fanbase. Their cancellation of the Wellington show will undoubtedly be a disappointment. Fans can only hope that the band will return to New Zealand again soon.
