"Zombies On A Plane" Is Set To Become A Reality

Less than a week after the success of its first spin-off show, The Walking Dead has found a new way to capitalise on the franchise's growing popularity.

Entertainment Weekly reports that AMC, the American channel that produces the hit zombie series, has ordered a special that shows what happened on planes when the zombie outbreak occurred.

Rather than a traditional airing though, the special will be shown in chapters during the ad breaks for spin-off Fear the Walking Dead. The one surviving character from the special will then join FTWD during its second season.

Details, including the cast, how long it will run and whether Samuel L Jackson- the star of cult movie Snakes on a Plane- will be there to show his annoyance, have yet to be revealed.

The Walking Dead is a growing brand for the American network. Fear The Walking Dead debuted last week to 13.3 million viewers in the US, breaking the record for the highest debuting cable show.

The Walking Dead's fifth season premiere got 17.29 million viewers.

Episode two of Fear the Walking Dead airs at 8.30pm today on SoHo, and features Kiwi actor Cliff Curtis as one of the leads.
