William and Kate's touching tribute to The Queen and Prince Philip on 72nd wedding anniversary
Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip celebrate a whopping 72 years of marriage today and members of the royal family have joined in honouring them on their special day.
Prince William and Kate Middleton led the touching tributes with a photo of the couple when they were younger followed by a more recent snap on Instagram.
"Wishing Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh a very happy 72nd Wedding Anniversary!" the caption of the post read.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle soon followed with their own post sharing a black and white photo of The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh riding in a carriage together.
"Happy anniversary to Her Majesty The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh!,” the caption on the photo read. “On this day, seventy-two years ago, they were married at Westminster Abbey."
"Many congratulations!"
Meanwhile, the official Instagram account for the royal family shared a darling photo from the couple’s wedding day.
Elizabeth and Philip’s where marriage in Westminster Abbey in 1947, and according to the official royal website the couple had 2000 guests at the ceremony, which was also recorded and broadcast by BBC radio to 200 million people around the world.
