Tom Hanks Reveals Inspiration Behind Forrest Gump's Accent

We know Forrest Gump's Deep Southern accent all too well! 

In an interview with Graham Norton, Tom has revealed the inspiration behind Gump's accent was down to a problem in getting the actor, Michael Connor Humphries, who played young Forrest to speak the way the director wanted.

So instead Hanks said 'Why don't I talk the way he [Humphries] talks right now'. So, hanging out with the young actor who was from Mississippi, Hanks copied his accent and the rest is history.
