The Chase star Mark 'The Beast' Labbett reveals he's married to his cousin

Mark 'The Beast' Labbett may be a general knowledge guru on The Chase, but it turns out he isn't so clued up when it comes to his wife.

The 52-year-old stunned viewers of Loose Women when he revealed his wife, Katie, is actually his cousin.

The pair - who wed in October 2014 - were unaware of their family ties.

When questioned about being related to his wife, Mark said: 'It wasn't something we were aware of at the time its just one of those things that happened.'

The 25-year-old also opened up about her relationship with Mark, stating that despite having the nickname 'The Beast' on the hit game show, he's actually "a big softie" at home.

She went on to discuss how the couple met, explaining: "We had some mutual friends - basically it came from a mistake.

"Mark misunderstood something I said - it came from that.

"We met five years ago, have been together for four and married for three."

Mark's dad is first cousin's with Katie's father, making them second cousins.

In the UK, it's not illegal to marry your cousin.
