Shortland Street star K.J. Apa has been cast in the DreamWorks adaptation of 'A Dog's Purpose'.
Starring alongside Apa in the film are Hollywood heavyweights Dennis Quaid, Britt Robertson, and Peggy Lipton.
Leaving his long term role as Kane on Shortland Street, Apa flew out to Winnipeg, Canada to begin filming yesterday. On top of this big news, Apa is also set to star in the new series 'The Cul De Sac'. This family drama will be premiering on TV2 soon!
His NZ agent Mandy Jacobsen says "They said he's like a young Tom Cruise, they think he's going to be massive, they think he's going to be the biggest thing to ever come from New Zealand." That certainly seems true, when Apa explains how just 18 months ago he was turned down for a job at New World; "You want to know something funny? Before I got Shortland Street I applied to be a trolley pusher at New World and they turned me down."
