Princess Beatrice announces she is engaged to multi-millionaire boyfriend Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi

Princess Beatrice has announced that she is engaged to her boyfriend, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.

It has been revealed that the 31-year-old royal and the multi-millionaire – who have been together for 11 months - got engaged earlier this month while on a weekend away in Italy.

"I’m so excited," Beatrice wrote on Twitter about her engagement news, along with an official royal statement.

On his personal Instagram account, Edoardo also wrote alongside a series stunning photos of the couple together: "You will never be alone my love, my heart is your home. Hand in hand, today, tomorrow and forever."

In their statement, the Duke and Duchess of York said: "We are extremely happy to be able to share the news of our recent engagement. We are both so excited to be embarking on this life adventure together and can't wait to be married. We share so many similar interests and values and we know this will stand us in great stead for the years ahead, full of love and happiness."

Beatrice's mother Sarah Ferguson also shared a personal message, writing on social media: "I know what a mother feels so I have tears of joy. I am so proud of this sensational news. Andrew and I are just the luckiest people ever to have two great sons in law (sic)."

Edoardo's parents, Nikki Williams-Ellis and Alessandro Mapelli Mozzi are "delighted" that their son is going to marry Beatrice next year as they share a "strong and united bond."
They said: "We are truly delighted about Edoardo and Beatrice's engagement. Our family has known Beatrice for most of her life.

"Edo and Beatrice are made for each other, and their happiness and love for each other is there for all to see. They share an incredibly strong and united bond, their marriage will only strengthen what is already a wonderful relationship."

Meanwhile Beatrice’s younger sister Eugenie - who tied the knot with Jack Brooksbank earlier in October last year – took to Instagram to share in her sister’s joyful news.

"I'm so happy for you my dearest big sissy and dear Edo. It's been a long time coming and you two are meant to be," she wrote alongside beautiful engagement photos that she took herself of Beatrice and Edo.

The 34-year-old property developer - who has a child from a previous relationship - made his first public appearance with Beatrice, 31, at the National Portrait Gallery gala in March and they have been spotted together several times since then.
