After five albums and four tours, the boys of One Direction have decided to go their separate ways and take an indefinite hiatus in 2016.
A lot of Directioners are worried that their new album Made in the A.M. — out this Friday — might be the band’s final record together, akin to *NSYNC‘s break in 2002 that resulted in a permanent disbandment. During a recent interview with Fabulous magazine, Liam Payne promised fans that the boys will reunite following their much-needed break.
“It’s not over...And yes, we’re taking a break, but we need one. We have done four tours, five albums, but we will be coming back. We don’t want this to end.” Also during their interview, Louis Tomlinson and Harry Styles opened up about the struggles and positives of Zayn Malik‘s departure.
“The really tough moment for me was when Zayn left,” Louis said. “That was really, really hard. We knew it was coming, we saw a lot of signs in a lot of the gigs abroad. It was sad.” Harry added, “One thing that was good is that it made us really bond. It made us look at what we had and really know we wanted to keep it.
It also made us really focus on making the best album we could. You go through so much together as a band that no one really understands, but ultimately it just makes you closer.”
