Mike McRoberts on Hilary Barry: 'I've moved on'

Three news presenter Mike McRoberts says he's found a "work wife" to replace Hilary Barry.

McRoberts spent 11 years presenting Three's 6pm alongside Barry, and was upset when she departed the network last year to move to TVNZ 1's Breakfast show.

But he tells this week's edition of Woman's Day that Samantha Hayes is more than filling in Barry's shoes. 

"My second marriage is going very well indeed. I still catch up with Hilary and I'm sure we'll be mates forever, but I've moved on. Everything's good."

McRoberts, 51, and Hayes, 33, have been taking holidays together, recently running the Waitomo Trail Run and going caving together.

Hayes agrees that their presenting partnership is working well.

"It almost feels like we've been doing it forever," she tells Woman's Day.

"And fortunately, the wheels haven't fallen off and there have been no major disasters."
