Doris Roberts Speaking To Studio 10
Doris Roberts, who we knew and loved as the grandmother Marie Barone from Everybody Loves Raymond, has opened up about the tragic death of her on-screen grandson Sawyer Sweeten.
Speaking to Hollywood reporter Richard Reid for the Australian TV show Studio 10, Doris expressed her grief saying, “Nobody knows what went on... he’s only 19 years old. I just couldn’t believe it when the phone call came.”
It seems a lack of work following his role as Geoffrey Barone on the hit show alongside his twin brother Sullivan, who played his on-screen twin Michael, definitely weighed on the 19 year old star.
“To be in the business and to be successful, like it was for nine years, and then to be off of it ... they don’t know how to deal with that. That’s hard to do, you know, why aren’t they all calling me, (asking) ‘why am I not working?' ... it’s hard enough to be a grown up and deal with it” said Roberts.
