Happy birthday Lorde! One of NZ's sweetest treasures is no longer a teenager.

As our favourite global chart topper turns 20 today, spy.co.nz celebrates some of the many ways Lorde has – and continues – to kick ass.

    • She won New Zealand’s most prestigious songwriting prize, the Silver Scroll Award at age 17 (and was nominated again two years later)
    • She was signed to Universal Music at just 13 years old.
    • She curated the soundtrack to a major blockbuster, spawning the hit single Yellow Flicker Beat and earning a Golden Globe nomination
