NEWS: Taupo Shooting Under Investigation

Taupo Police is investigating an incident in which a 32-year-old man received a gunshot wound to his abdomen in the town early today (Thu 20 Aug).  He is currently in hospital in a serious condition and will undergo surgery later today.

The incident happened about 1.20am on Spa Road near the intersection of Motutahae Street, Taupo.

Police are currently working to establish what has occurred. They are particularly interested in talking to anyone who was in the Spa Road area around 1.20am and heard or saw any suspicious activity or vehicles around the Motutahae Street and Spa Road area.
