Course Changes For The 2016 Epic Swim

Due to the expected weather conditions for this weekend and local advice from authorities, changes have been made to the location of the 2016 Epic Swim and 2016 New Zealand Open Water Championships.

The wind speed and direction is an important factor in ensuring all of our swimmers can enjoy competing on a safe course. With strong westerly winds predicted Swimming New Zealand is making a proactive decision to move to a location that will be more sheltered from these conditions.

The new course is located in Acacia Bay North, just a short drive from the current location at the Lake Taupo Yacht Club.

At this stage the programme of events will remain the same for both days but will run on a shorter course of 1.25km instead of 2.5km. This will be reviewed if conditions change.

More information will be relayed to all participants throughout this afternoon and posted to the Epic Swim website and on social media.
