Umbrellas could be the order of the day tomorrow with heavy rain expected to lash Northland tomorrow as a low over the Tasman Sea sweeps a band of rain down across the region.
The MetServcice said a low over the Tasman Sea is expected to approach northern New Zealand with an associated rainband moving south over Northland, bringing a period of heavy rain, tomorrow.
There is the possibility that rain accumulations in Northland could approach warning thresholds during Thursday (for example 70 to 100mm in a 12 to 18 hour period) and Northlanders are advised to keep up to date with the latest forecasts at www.metservice.com.
The situation will be reviewed at 9pm tonight.
