Hawke's Bay locals Cam McLeay and Chris Morris are about to take on an epic adventure down south.

The Pioneer is a Mountain Bike Stage Race of the Southern Alps New Zealand covers 7 days or racing, 569km of riding and 15, 275m of climbing.

We caught up with Chris Morris, co-owner of Havelock North’s Pipi Cafe, to chat about their journey, the support they've received from Hawke's Bay and why they're taking on this challenge.

You can follow their adventure via #getmetohawkesbay and find out more about the race at www.thepioneer.co.nz

Best of luck guys, HB Represent!
