She is renowned as a natural beauty but Uma Thurman was almost unrecognisable at the premiere party for her new miniseries The Slap on Monday in New York City.

The 44-year-old actress turned heads for all the wrong reasons as she stepped out with a suspiciously smooth forehead and puffy face along with an extremely tight smile.

While Uma's transformation was not as dramatic as that of fellow actress Renee Zellweger, who caused shockwaves with her drastically altered appearance last year, there was no denying she was looking decidedly different.

However, her make-up, consisting of little more than foundation and bright red lipstick, could be a factor, along with her slicked back hair.

The Pulp Fiction star added only the faintest smear of natural shadow to her eyelids and blush to her pale, porcelain smooth cheeks.

Uma's fair brows and lashes got no help with pencil or mascara either.
