Eric Murray talks the epic moment he burnt his clue on 'Celebrity Treasure Island'

Sadly Olympic Gold Medallist, Eric Murray lost the elimination challenge in last night’s episode of Celebrity Treasure Island.

But before he left the island, he not only won $10,000 for his charity of choice Autism NZ but he made a very bold move: burning his one and only clue.

Catching up with Laura McGoldrick, Toni Street and his former Kahu teammate Sam Wallace, Eric revealed how it felt to burn the clue.

 When Sam asked if it felt good, Eric quickly replied: "oh yeah!"

"[Team Mako have] got [their] little cult following over there and I was like, whatever advantage I can give [Sam] and Shannon going forward," he explained.

"I was like, you guys know the clue and if you want to lie about it, lie through your teeth and say, 'oh yeah Eric’s clue meant bananas' or something rather than what it actually was."

"So that’s why I wanted to burn it so nobody could actually find out, no one would really know the truth except [Sam] and Shannon."

He also revealed that he hopes either of his Kahu teammates takes out the competition but says it’s hard to know how it will all play out at this stage.
