Why Do Jeans Have That Small Pocket, Inside A Pocket?

Have you ever wondered why there's that random pocket in your jeans?

All you can really fit in there is a coin, or a lolly or maybe a key.. but apart from that, what is it even for?! 

Turns out it’s known as a ‘watch pocket’!

Back in the 1800s, cowboys used to carry their pocket watches on chains, and keep them in their waistcoats. Therefore, jeans manufacturer, Levi Strauss, introduced the ‘watch pocket’ in order to provide another safe place for the gentleman’s pocket watch.

And they've stuck around!
