Time magazine have gone through the FAA's Aircraft Accident Database and have managed to figure out which seats on the plane have the highest survival rate.

Based on info from the last 35 years, analysts found that the seats in the back third of the plane had a 32% fatality rate compared with 39% in the middle third and 38% in the front third.

And if you're happy to spend an extra few bucks to select your seat at the check in, then the middle seats at the rear of the plane had the best outcomes (28% fatality rate). The worst place to sit? The middle thirst of the plane, in the aisle seats (44% fatality rate)

They also went on to say that after a crash, passengers who are near an exit are more likely to get out alive.

But here's the thing, flying is VERY safe, and it's only gotten better in the past 20 years. The odds of dying in a plane crash are 1 in 8,000 whereas the odds of being killed in a car accident are 1 in 112
