Wellington Man's Body Lay Undiscovered For Weeks

An elderly man's badly decomposed body has been found in a Wellington apartment block opposite Parliament.

Police have confirmed that the body of a 78 year old man was located in the upmarket Mulgrave Street 'St Pauls' apartment yesterday.

It appears the man may have passed away in early January.

Senior sergeant Jason McCarthy said the man's body was found "badly decomposed".

The apartment was accessed after concerns were raised by another occupant of the building. 

There were no suspicious circumstances and Police will be releasing the name of the deceased once next of kin are identified and contacted.
