The Cost Of A Rattlesnake Bite In The US

It's shocking how a life-threatening injury like a snake bite could not only leave you fighting for your life... but also facing bankruptcy.

Earlier this month, Todd Fassler from San Diego was bitten by a rattlesnake according to KGTV San Diego.

Around 7000 to 8000 people in the US get bitten by a venomous snake each year, whilst 5-6 of those people tragically die.

What is most surprising though was Fassler's hospital bill he received following the bite... all $153,000 of it (NZ$232,000).

KGTV reporter Dan Haggerty shared the bill on Twitter...

It's not clear whether Fassler has health insurance and whether these are dollar amounts are what he'll have to pay out of pocket... but if he didn't have cover, that's how much he'd be stung with!
