One person is trapped in a car teetering over a bank at Pukerua Bay on the Kapiti Coast.
Five people were in the car when it crashed on Pa Rd, but only one person is still inside.
Firefighters are stabilising the car before the person can be rescued.
A police spokeswoman says the car is in a precarious position.
No one has been injured.
