Lamb Cooked In Car Shows Danger For Kids This Summer

Australian celebrity chef Matt Moran has provided a timely reminder of the dangers of leaving children unattended in cars this summer.
In 'The Unconventional Oven', a video filmed for Kidsafe Australia last week, Moran leaves a lamb loin on a tray inside a car parked at Sydney's Bondi Beach.
As the temperature inside the car rises to 72C degrees the lamb begins to brown, and after 90 minutes in the hot car the meat is cooked through. In fact, Moran declares the lamb - which he subsequently plates with a harissa and pine nut dressing - "overcooked".
The video provides a striking demonstration of leaving children, as well as pets, in parked cars during the summer months.
The temperature inside a car can easily reach 30 degrees hotter than the outside temperature, and leaving the window open can make little difference, a Kidsafe spokeswoman said.
