Jon Toogood - Lost In My Hometown

New Zealand Music Hall of Fame inductee Jon Toogood has treated fans to an emotive new single entitled 'Lost In My Hometown'.

The track sees the Shihad frontman return to his acoustic guitar; the meditative tool he used to process his grief after losing his mother during a COVID lockdown in 2021, and soon after, his brother-in-law.

Jon was touring New Zealand at the time of the Omicron outbreak which left him locked down in Wellington, isolated from his wife and children in Australia.

Jon stayed with his sister and brother-in-law for 3 and a half months. During this time his brother-in-law was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer which was hard for Jon to witness.

"To stay sane I would go for long walks around Te Whanganui-a-Tara, along the streets where I grew up," states Jon.

"I spent a lot of this time reflecting on my life, growing up and where I had ended up today. One day I even got lost…lost in memory and quite literally, lost."

It was during this time Jon penned the reflective new single.
