Washing your hair can be so much effort! Which is why dry shampoo was such a genius invention!
But we may need to back off a bit on the dry shampoo, as it may not be as good for our hair as we once thought.
Experts are warning against the overuse of dry shampoo as the effects can result in dryer hair and in some extreme cases, hairloss!
Technical Director and Session Stylist of Academie Salon, Richi Grisillo, says, "Dry shampoo should be washed out of your hair every 24 hours. It's to get you through, it's not a long-term fix.
"It's putting a powder on your hair and then if you sleep on it, it's increasing friction that's in there. Not dramatically [but] it's one of those things that where you have to be careful.”
Richi continued, saying, "Dry shampoo is certainly a saviour but it shouldn't be your saviour every day of the week until you wash it. It should just be that 24 hour leeway when you're like 'Ooh, it's a bit oily’.”
"I get that some people get naturally oily hair and it's the only thing that gets them through a few days which I guess is fine, but as long as they're maintaining it.”
Washed out every 24 hours?! Oooops we have not been doing that!
And if Richi's cautions above weren't enough, Nicole's dry shampoo story is terrifying!
In a post on her Facebook, Nicole shared how she developed a bald patch potentially from using dry shampoo.
Nicole explained that she went to her doctor after noticing a bald patch in her hair, that was getting bigger.
She eventually quit dry shampoo completely after realising it may be the cause, and the results were pretty astonishing.
Nicole still has the bald patch and is unsure whether the hair will grow back but the condition of her scalp has greatly improved.
While the majority of us probably won't experience such a severe reaction, it's made us wary about the potential side effects beauty products could have.
