Lots of parents like to take snaps of their young children in the tub.

It's a happy reminder of their childhood - a memory to treasure when they're grown-up. But at what age does a bath-time photo session start to become inappropriate?

One mother has divided opinion after criticising her former partner and the father of her child for taking a photo of their nine-year-old daughter in the bath, the Daily Mail reports.

Writing under the username laureywilliams on Mumsnet, the mother asked if she was being unreasonable for thinking her daughter was "too old" for these type of photos.

In a later post, she added that the water was opaque and that the photo had been sent to demonstrate the coloured bubble bath.

Many agreed it was unacceptable, with one mother posting that the nine-year-old should be "afforded some privacy".

Others felt such photos were acceptable for toddler-age children - just so long as the photos weren't shared on social media.

Some felt such photos were acceptable as long as the child were obscured by bath toys or bubbles. But again, age was an issue.

One user said it was inappropriate for the father to be in the bathroom with their nine-year-old child at all, with the exception of special needs children.

A mother of a nine-year-old boy agreed, saying she was already teaching her child about privacy in the bathroom.

User Xmasbaby11 said they would feeling "violated" if such a photo of them had been taken at that age and that the future feelings of the child should be taken into account.

But some failed to see an issue, insisting that people were "confused about sex and nudity".

"There is nothing sexual about a 9-year-old washing," one user wrote.
