The idea of cleaning your house from top to bottom all in one go is enough to put anybody off so why not try out a new spring cleaning concept that is far easier to manage and maintain?

Sophie Miura, from My Domaine, has put together a simple way to de-clutter your home in seconds rather than hours and which scrutinises items based on how often you use them, the Daily Mail reports.

She says when she removed one item from every room in her apartment, she noticed a big difference and that it's all about focusing on visual clutter rather than items tucked away in cupboards and drawers.

This way, you notice the changes instantly and the results are clearer, meaning you have the motivation to continue.

Throw away, donate or return one item in every room of your home and see if you can tell the difference too.

KITCHEN: THE BORROWED AND FORGOTTEN ITEM

There can be lots of items in your kitchen that will make you wonder how on earth they got there or where they came from.

Guests leave things behind after visits and different holidays including Christmas and Halloween means items and ornaments are left over and not put away.

Get rid of the cutlery and pieces you really don't need and your kitchen will immediately look cleaner and less cluttered. This requires no cleaning and can be done quickly.

BEDROOM: THE SENTIMENTAL ITEM THAT HAS LOST MEANING

Over time, bedrooms become filled with items that we barely use.

It might be hard to throw personal items away but if it's lost its meaning and no longer serves any purpose then why keep it?

LIVING ROOM: AN OLD MAGAZINE OR BLANKET

If there is ever a room that it is easy to fill with needless items then it's the living room.

Things can get put in there for what you think will be hours but end up sticking around months later.

Old magazines, various blankets or pillows and small accessories can build up and take up a lot of space.

Throw away old items, donate the larger pieces and maximise the space by clearing things away and putting them out of sight into cupboards.

BATHROOM: ITEMS THAT AREN'T USED DAILY

We've all been guilty of buying various products for our bodies and skin, using them once and forgetting about them.

They either don't do what they say on the packet or we don't have enough time to use them every day. Either way, they're gathering dust and making the bathroom look messy as they're left scattered around the sink.

Remove any item that you don't use often and clear up some much-needed space on the bathroom surfaces and in the shower. It will make getting ready in the morning more of a pleasant experience.

DINING ROOM: ALMOST BURNT-OUT CANDLES

Everybody loves lighting a candle from time to time and they can really relax our moods.

The end result, however, is a room littered with half-finished candles that you can't bring yourself to finish.

To purge her home, Sophie from My Domaine, ran a bath and lit each candle.

Then, she said, 'I cleaned my favourite empty votives with boiling water and used them to store makeup brushes.'
